Random Wandering–Champions League Knockout Thoughts

The Champions League draw is simply stunning.  Real Madrid versus Manchester United is the pick of the bunch, but each tie has a great storyline, which Gabriele Marcotti sums up nicely for ESPN FC.  Michael Cox chimed in as well on the Guardian with stats and notes. Mark Griffiths breaks down the match ups involving Spanish teams for Forza Futbol.

FCB confront Milan again, but I’m not too worried about that one.  The Rossoneri are far from the peak of their powers, while the Blaugrana are recapturing historical form.  Arsenal against Bayern could have some drama as the Bavarians look to return to the final.  Juventus versus Celtic is tasty as well and don’t miss Shaktar/Dortmund.  Could be some stunning football on display in that confrontation.  Now to start banking personal days so that I can enjoy as much of the action as I can.

First legs: February 12, 13, 19 and 20

Second legs: March 5, 6, 12 and 13

Galatasaray v Schalke 04 ??
Celtic v Juventus Juventus narrowly.
Arsenal v Bayern Munich Bayern by a couple of goals.
Shakhtar Donetsk v Borussia Dortmund Dortmund will take care of business at home.
AC Milan v Barcelona Barcelona.
Real Madrid v Manchester United Mourinho puts Sir Alex to the sword to keep his job for a couple more weeks.
Valencia v Paris Saint-Germain Tough to call.  Valencia will need to score twice and Rami and Costa will have to handle Ibra.
FC Porto v Malaga Assuming Malaga can keep the squad together, this is encounter to simply enjoy.
